LIV Golf is set to take on some of the biggest events on the PGA Tour early next year.
The Saudi-backed league announced the first four tournaments of its 2025 schedule on Tuesday night, and each of the four competitions shares weeks of competition with a notable Tour event.
LIV will open its fourth season with an international program that includes:
• Riyadh, February 6-8
• Adelaide, February 14-16
• Hong Kong, March 7-9
• Singapore, March 14-16
These dates compete with the following Tour events: WM Phoenix Open, February 6-9; Genesis Invitational, February 13-16; Arnold Palmer Invitational, March 6-9; The Players, March 13-16. This is the largest non-major tournament on the Tour calendar, two marquee events and arguably one of the most popular non-marquee tournaments.
While negotiations between the Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which backs the LIV, are ongoing, this calendar deletion likely indicates that neither side is particularly close to agreeing on a return to Tour events for LIV members. Imagine this: If LIV players were, say, offered exemptions into some of the Tour’s top tournaments, they would be unable to play in five of the season’s first six notable tournaments due to their LIV commitments (The Sentry, reserved for winners, kicks off the Tour’s 2025 season).
