Melbourne, Australia – a few moments after The loss of Alexander Zverev in the Australian Open final On Sunday, a person in the stadium shouted the names of two of the ex-girlfriends of the tennis star who accused him of physical violence in the past, saying that “Australia believes them”.
While Zverev stood on a microphone waiting to speak during the trophy ceremony, a voice repeated the sentence three times.
“Australia believes that Olya and Brenda!” The public member shouted, referring to the former partners of Zverev, Olya Sharypova and Brenda PateaReported athletics.
Some others in the crowd of Rod Laver Arena have hunted and whistled.
During his press conference after the match, Zverev, a 27 -year -old man in Germany, was invited to his reaction to the interruption in the court.
“I think there are no more accusations”, Zverev said in a video conference video. “Wasn’t there for – what?” – Nine months now. …
“Good for her,” he said about the spectator. “I think she was the only one in the stadium to believe anything at that time.”
“I think I have done everything I can, and I’m not about to open this subject,” he added.
The day Zverev reached the final of the French Open last June, a word came out of Berlin according to which a district court ended a trial resulting from the accusation of domestic violence of Patea during a argument in 2020. The resolution came with the agreement of the prosecutors of the state and the lawyers of Zverev and his former partner.
Zverev previously denied an allegation of aggression made by Sharypova. This accusation prompted the professional tennis tournis tour to investigate its assertions; ATP said in January 2023 that there was not enough evidence.
