He is sure to say that Sergio Jimenez had a training session which he will never forget on Tuesday.
The second year student of the UTAH male golf team fired 13-mine of 59 during a training session in Kukui’ula in Hawaii. The number is important because no one in the history of university golf course has broken 60 in competition. The previous course record was 62.
The UTES, ranked 16th in the country, are in Hawaii to start their spring season at John A. Burns Intercollegate, which starts Thursday during the ocean in Hokuala. Burns is the seventh longer event of collegial racing golf in the country.
In the history of university golf course, 19 men and only one woman fired 60. The last man to reach the milestone occurred in the fall while Joonho Kim of Division II Embry-Riddle pulled 60 in the First round at Shark Invitational in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, October 7.
In four playing this year, Jimenez won a victory at the Collegiate Palouse and two top-five. He also went 4-0-1 to the Big 12 match match. Jimenez was ranked 22nd in the NCAA golf course before spring.
