Many have Michigan State basketball as a top 25 team before next year, but only a few have Spartans in the Top 10. This includes CBS Sports analyst Jon Rothstein.
Like many in the field of university basketball media, Rothstein released his Way-to-bearly The rankings for the 2025-26 season this week, and it is particularly high on the Spartans before next year. Rothstein has planned Michigan State as a team No. 9 in its ranking. By examining the numerous different pre-season rankings of the Super Premier, I only saw two others having Michigan State in the Top 10: Sports news at n ° 5 and athletics at n ° 7.

Compared to Big Ten, the state of Michigan is only behind a trio of teams: Purdue (n ° 2), Michigan (n ° 5) and UCLA (n ° 7). The other Big Ten teams included in the Rothstein ranking (which is the 45 best teams on a national scale) are Oregon (n ° 14), Wisconsin (n ° 21), Ohio State (n ° 24), Illinois (n ° 29), USC (n ° 36), Nebraska (n ° 38) and North West (n ° 39).
It is clear that Rothstein is very high on the Big Ten between next year, because few others have four teams of the League in the top 10 like him. But if the big ten is as good as it thinks it is next year, then it would certainly be logical that the Spartans are again in the Top 10.
