The Carrier Dome in Syracuse seen from the outside. The basketball court, renovated in 2019-20, commemorates longtime coach Jim Boeheim’s 44th season at the helm of the program. It features a line of retired jerseys along the baseline, and then the signature “S” in the middle has gotten bigger and bigger each season.

UNT Coliseum at the University of North Texas. Nicknamed by locals the “Super Pit,” this courthouse floor depicts a giant predatory bird straddling the contours of Texas. Upon further investigation, we discovered that the bird’s name is ‘Scrappy’.

California State University-Bakersfield installed this updated version of its basketball court, with a primarily dark blue look that bucks the traditional design to really make the white and yellow lines pop.

Best known for its eye-popping football uniforms, Oregon basketball also likes to go against convention. The school’s forest-themed basketball court has a darker shade across most of the area, but the middle “O” sits atop lighter wood to help everything everyone in the arena to remember who is the real center of attention.

George Washington University neighbors some of the most historic and important buildings in the country, and the school’s basketball court won’t let you forget it. Some of the district’s most iconic monuments and government buildings are located on the hardwood.

The University of Texas at El Paso sports a unique field design. The team plays at the Don Haskins Center, an arena surrounded by orange seats and a field that shows two picks around the central logo. Since the area is a hotbed of mining, it’s only natural that “miners” live there.
