Texas A&M expected to pursue Alabama transfer defensive lineman

Texas A&M’s Traffic in the transfer portal has reached 18 players, and while head coach Mike Elko and his staff might be done adding players, especially after adding five transfer additions along the defensive line, another very intriguing name has entered the portal, as Alabama Second-year defensive lineman Jordan Renaud will be looking for a new home in 2026.

A native of Tyler, Texas, Renaud was a top-60 prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, possessing the size and versatility to play multiple positions in the trenches. During his redshirt sophomore season, Renaud logged 295 snaps as a key rotation player, recording just 16 tackles and five pressures, and was surprisingly the lowest-rated defender on the team according to Pro Football Focus with a defensive rating of 53.8.

However, PFF categories don’t tell the whole story: Renaud is still a young player with plenty of room to grow and likely needs a change of scenery and a new defensive scheme to help his development reach its peak. For the Aggies, defensive line depth is paramount in the SEC, and after landing Alabama transfer wide receiver Isaiah Horton, Mike Elko should at least contact Renaud and his agent this week.

After losing defensive linemen Dealyn Evans and Rylan Kennedy to the portal, who have since committed to Mississippi State and Florida State, Renaud, who serves as a valuable depth piece to help against the run, also provides some pass-rushing ability off the edge.
