Texas A&M’s The 2026 list would be do not include one of his longtime backup defensive linemen, as GigEm247 beat the writer Carter Karels confirmed that DL Jadon Scarlett is no longer on the roster and has reportedly retired from football for medical reasons. However, Scarlett has not yet confirmed this information.
Over three seasons (2023-25), Scarlett logged just 27 snaps, including 25 on defense and two on special teams, and in his final season, the former three-star prospect racked up six snaps in the Aggies’ blowout win over Samford, finishing with a tackle. Scarlett’s lack of playing time was mainly due to the talent in front of him, which would continue into the 2026 campaign.

Before his retirement announcement, Scarlett had two seasons of eligibility remaining and could have found a new home through the transfer portal if he planned to continue his football career. While this doesn’t impact the Aggies’ overall depth, it’s worth noting that Scarlett was one of three players remaining from A&M’s historic 2022 recruiting class, as starting center Mark Nabou and likely starting nickel Bryce Anderson are now the last two players remaining in the cycle.
Texas A&M’s 2026 spring practice season will begin Friday, March 20, and conclude Saturday, April 18, following the Aggies’ Maroon & White spring game. Coach Mike Elko and his staff will officially welcome 17 additions to the transfer portal and 25 of 26 players in the 2026 signing class, headlined by five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington and four-star running back KJ Edwards.
