THE Tennis Industry Association last week unveiled the 2019 Tennis Industry Discovery Challenge, a collaborative effort to brainstorm new ideas on how to grow the game and business of tennis.

TIA worked with IdeaConnectionone of the world’s leading “open innovation” service companies, to develop the online competition designed to showcase innovation and solutions on how to increase engagement and participation in tennis.
The competition consists of an “Ideas Rally” in which awards are given to participants not only for their ideas, but also for their contribution to the discussion. The online competition runs until August 1, 2019.
Additionally, the top 3-5 ideas will be shared at the 12th Annual TIA Tennis Forum in New York, during the Discovery Challenge session.
Tennis sports, marketing, health and wellness – or many other disciplines – can participate in the Idea Rally, and cash and other prizes will be awarded to the best contributions. There are no specific time requirements: participants can participate as much or as little as they wish.
The five categories:
On-court tennis activities and programming — What new ideas for on-court activities, programs and competition formats can increase tennis engagement and participation?
Marketing and promotions — What creative approaches to marketing and promotional experiences can increase tennis engagement and participation among new and existing audiences?
Technological solutions — What technology solutions can increase engagement and participation in tennis during play, for spectators and players, while providing accurate data collection about the experience?
Well-being and fitness — What new ideas and approaches to positioning tennis as a lifelong wellness and fitness activity can increase engagement and participation in tennis?
Other imaginative/off the beaten path ideas — What imaginative ideas that don’t fit into the categories above can you help increase tennis and participation?
