IGA Swiatek overcome an Elise Mertens determined to ensure a 7-6 victory (7/2), 6-1 and to take her place in the last 16 in a WTA 1000 tournament for a record event of 25th consecutive.
Swiatek, second seeded, has not lost before the last 16 at this level since Cincinnati 2021.
The post was 5-2 in the first set, but Mertens retaliated to do so 5-5 before Swiatek could regain his domination during the equality break.

The 33 -year -old victory won more than two hours and 38 minutes, made Dimitrov the fourth active player to count 100 Masters 1000 victories on the field harshly.
“It’s great. Last year, I think I won 100 victories inside, now that. It’s beautiful, I think that every time you take such a step,” said Dimitrov.
“We know ourselves very well, we train a lot, so there were not really secrets. In the end, this was summed up in a few points.”
Later Sunday, the fourth seeded Novak Djokovic is in action against Camilo Ugo Carabelli Argentin.
