Murray, Ky. (AP) – The 23 points of Bennett Stittz helped Drake defeat Murray State 55-45 Tuesday evening and to extend his sequence of victories at nine games.
Stirtz pulled 9 out of 16 in the field, including 1 for 3 in the 3-point range, and went 4 for 4 of the line for the bulldogs (21-2, 11-2 Missouri Valley Conference). Tavion Banks added 16 points while making 7 out of 10 and 2 of the free throw line when they also had five rebounds. Kael Combs went 2 out of 4 on the field to finish with six points.
Nick Ellington finished with 10 points for runners (11-13, 5-8). Murray State also obtained 10 points from Kylen Milton. AJ Ferguson also recorded eight points.
Drake took the lead with 15:42 remaining in the first half and did not give up. Banks led their team by scoring 12 points in the first half to help them advance 32-18 in the break.
These two teams play both on Saturday. Drake welcomes the state of Indiana and the state of Murray visits Valparaiso.
