Steph and Kerr playfully roast former Warriors GM Myers during interview originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Friday night’s Warriors preseason finale against the Lakers went smoothly, with Golden State en route to a dominant victory 132-74 against a Los Angeles team that rested its entire starting lineup.
So, with the Warriors already leading by 42 points heading into the fourth quarter, it was time to pull some shenanigans.
Former Golden State general manager Bob Myers was broadcasting the game for ESPN, and he sidelined coach Steve Kerr and guard Steph Curry – who I did not participate in tonight’s match with a sprained finger – for a sort of reunion interview between terms.
What followed was, predictably, a chaotic interaction between former colleagues.
“I feel like you guys didn’t coach as well while I was here,” Myers said after introducing his interviewees.
“I feel like we have more talent now that Mike Dunleavy is the general manager,” Kerr quickly rebutted, teasing Myers. after its release of the Warriors after the 2022-23 NBA season.
“On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you miss me?” Myers then asked, which elicited another sarcastic response.
“I’m having real PTSD right now from all the meetings we’ve had upstairs, so I’m going to let you have that,” Curry responded before leaving for Golden State’s bench.
Finally, Myers asked Kerr a more serious question about the Warriors’ blowout victory:
“A little dress rehearsal tonight without Curry – is that what you want to see?”
“It’s obviously not a fair fight,” Kerr responded. “(The Lakers) aren’t playing any of their guys. But I like our focus. I like the way our guys move the ball and take care of the ball. So, it was a good night.”
Kerr couldn’t really complain on a night when the Warriors shot 58 percent from the field and won by 58 points.
So, Myers offered Kerr another tongue-in-cheek question to end this fun interview.
“Do you need anything from me during the fourth quarter on the show?” asked Myers.
Of course, Kerr had a quick retort ready to go.
“We were done with you two years ago,” he said with a laugh, dropping the mic.
There is clearly no bad blood between Myers and the Warriors, as evidenced by their playful banter. Plus, it’s a sign of the good vibes in Golden State right now after finishing an undefeated preseason.
