NASCAR is heading to California’s wine country for a road race at Sonoma Raceway, where history was made last year.

Trackhouse Racing Driver Daniel Suarez took his first ever Cup Series victory and became the first Mexican driver to win a Cup race. The Sonoma podium was also surprising, with Chris Buescher finishing second and Michael McDowell third.

Recent races may have revealed a changing of the guard when it comes to NASCAR road racing prowess. In the seven road races held in 2021, Hendrick Motorsports teammates Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott have combined to win five. In the last seven road races – six held in 2022 and one so far in 2023 – Tyler Reddick has won three, Larson one, Christopher Bell one and Trackhouse teammates Suarez and Ross Chastain one each.

Daniel Suarez celebrates after winning the 2022 Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway for his first career NASCAR Cup Series victory.

Will there be a live broadcast of the Cup race in Sonoma?
