Sophie Cunningham reached a higher level of popularity during its first year with the Indiana fever in 2025, even becoming the Most Wanted WNBA Player of the Year. In fact, she is the only female athlete to make the top 10 on the list, surpassing her teammate Caitlin Clark.
Cunningham played in 30 games during the 2025 season, with his campaign cut short after a torn MCL in his right knee, which required surgery. She averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1 steal for Indiana, helping the team win the Commissioner’s Cup championship and reach the title. WNBA semi-finals.

Given her popularity and production, Cunningham should garner considerable interest when she enters free agency. While Fever star Caitlin Clark wants to “step back” with the veteran guard, Cunningham made it clear that his priority is to explore his market and get as much money as possible in his next deal.

This time last year, several WNBA free agents had already discussed deals with teams and were waiting until Feb. 1 to sign. Unfortunately, the WNBA and the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) have not yet agreed on a new CBA.
According to ESPN’s Alexa Philippouthe WNBA and WNBPA remain at a standstill and far apart regarding the terms of the CBA, including a revenue sharing system. Representatives from both parties are scheduled to meet Monday in New York.
