PGA Tour’s Shotlink technology offers a data mine for fans, but it was not always available at all the courses that a particular tournament would use. For example, a tournament such as PE&T PEBBLE BEACH PR-AM uses two routes, but Shotlink data would only be available in the main course, Pebble Beach Golf Links.
This changes this week at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which takes place from Thursday to Sunday in California. The tour has announced that Shotlink will provide real -time data from each plan at Pebble beach and Spyglass Hill on Tourcast on the application and the PGA Tour website every day of the Signature event. Each player will alternate between Pebble Beach and Spyglass the first two laps, then the last two laps will only be played on Pebble Beach.
The tour indicates that this is part of the “Fan Forward” initiative, in this case powered by CDW.
The initial fans survey in 2024 gathered comments by more than 50,000 respondents. According to the tour, fans were asked what improvements could increase fans’ commitment with golf emissions, and the response “greater integration of statistics and data” was one of the best answers.
Shotlink data will continue to feed live statistics for Pebble Beach broadcasters, because Golf Channel, CBS and ESPN + can provide real -time statistics to viewers.
The first full year for Shotlink was in 2003, and since then it has collected data on more than 25 million shots at 197 courses.
