Buffalo swords forward Dylan Cozens is one of the biggest names in the rumor mill right away. With the Sabers struggling, teams have expressed interest in the big center. This should continue to be the case as we get closer to the 2025 NHL trade deadline.

In his column of the 32 most recent thoughtsNHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the Detroit Red Wings have expressed interest in Cozens.

Friedman wrote:

“I believe the Buffalo player the Red Wings were (are?) looking at is Dylan Cozens.”

When looking at the Red Wings roster, it’s easy to see why they would have a player like Cozens on their radar. They could certainly use another top-six center to help them take the next step, so it makes sense that Cozens would catch their eye.

However, with the Red Wings being one of the Sabres’ premier division rivals, trading Cozens there would undoubtedly carry serious risks. This is especially true considering the Red Wings are in a similar position to the Sabres, a struggling team finally looking to break through.

Even so, it will be interesting to see if the Red Wings’ interest in Cozens will lead them to make a bigger push for him from here.
