SHANGHAI (AP) — Ruoning Yin shot an 8-under 64 Sunday to win the Buick Shanghai LPGA Tournament, the Chinese golfer’s fourth career LPGA victory.
Yin was one shot behind the third-round leader, Japan’s Mao Saigo, but rallied with birdies on five of the final six holes. Yin finished with a 25-under 263 for the four rounds at Qizhong Garden Golf Club.
Saigo finished with a 71 and is tied for second with Sei Young Kim of South Korea, who had a 68. Saigo was looking for her first LPGA Tour victory. They were both six shots off the lead, finishing at 19-under 269.
Two of the LPGA’s best players — Nelly Korda and Lydia Ko — were not on the court this week in China. Both are entered next week for the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea.
American Yealimi Noh scored a 67 on Sunday to finish in fourth place, seven strokes behind the winner.
Hye-Jin Choi of South Korea shot a 62, the lowest round of the tournament. She finished tied for fifth, nine strokes off the pace.
