And so begins the wait to see if Novak Djokovic will be fit enough to play his quarter-final with Casper Ruud on Wednesday, after suffering from all that pain in his right knee today.
Here’s what Djokovic said after his five-set victory earlier today:
???? “I don’t know what will happen tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, if I will be able to go out on the field and play.
“It appears some of the clay was removed, so there was very little, if any, clay on the field today. Due to the drier conditions, sun and warmer conditions, this affects the clay in such a way that it becomes very slippery.
“The injury I had today happened exactly because of that, because I slipped and I slip a lot.”
The waiting game begins. In the meantime, you can find out more at Charlie Eccleshare on Djokovic’s opinions below.
