Report: Lakers Guard Olivari Signs Shoe Deal With Idol Curry’s Brand originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
It’s not every day that you meet your idol and build a working relationship with them.
Los Angeles Lakers two-way guard Quincy Olivari got the chance to experience that reality with NBA superstar and Warriors guard Steph Curry — and things got even sweeter on Friday.
Olivari was signed to Curry’s standalone venture at Under Armor “Curry Brand,” sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania. He becomes only the second active NBA player to sign with Curry Brand, joining Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox.

Olivari recently hit the NBA and sports world when he got emotional after meeting Curryhis childhood role model, after a Warriors vs. Lakers preseason game in October.
After the game, Olivari showed Curry a video of the two from years ago when the four-time NBA champion signed Olivari’s Curry jersey. Years later, Olivari wore his own NBA jersey while speaking about his inspiration. Curry also gave Olivari a pair of signed shoes.
The Atlanta native was asked about that special encounter while speaking to reporters in the Bay moments later, and he became emotional as he reflected on what those few minutes meant to him.
“I’ve loved him since I was in sixth grade,” Olivari said, choking up. “I don’t even know what to say. He’s my favorite player. The first thing he said to me was, ‘I’m a big fan of your game.’ And to be honest, I’m a big fan of his. I had his jersey. He signed it twice. I slept in that jersey so much.
“So just to be able to meet him and have him have some respect for me and then we talk behind the back. He gave me his shoes and signed them. It meant everything to me. My dad knows that, my mom knows. It means a lot. I don’t know, it means a lot.”
The Lakers guard shared a post on his Instagram of the two, along with a photo of the signed shoes and a photo of himself in a Curry jersey.
“Dreams come true,” he wrote.

Curry commented on the post and then created one.
“It’s my pleasure my brother,” he wrote. “I appreciate you being real and letting me know the story!!”

As if this heartwarming story couldn’t be more touching, Olivari’s signature shoe will be as special as it gets.
And a full circle moment he will never forget.
