A Peruvian football match took an unexpected turn when a referee defended himself by kicking an individual who rushed to attack him during a match of the Peru Cup in the Ancasch region.
The confrontation occurred in the coastal city of Casma, in Anncash, during a match between Sport Huaquilla and Magdalena Cedec in the Casma distribution league last weekend.
According to media accounts, referee Luis Alegre found himself threatened after having expelled a Magdalena player when a man ran to him with a plastic bottle in hand, aimed at attacking him.
While the pitch invader launched the bottle, raised the right leg and discouraged a flush kick, landing in the upper chest and head.
The kick shot the ground invader, then the security personnel intervened to avoid other clashes.
The match was suspended after the incident.
