College basketball the season is still a few months away. In the meantime, talking about the biggest brands and most iconic uniforms in academia is a good way to pass the time.
Uniforms in college sports are always a hot topic. And while uniform design and tradition may not be as important in college basketball as it is in college football, it remains an important aspect of a program’s image and brand recognition.
This ranking of the best college hoops uniforms is based on three major factors: simplicity, recognizability and uniqueness. Creativity and consistency throughout the uniform design are also considered.

Georgetown Hoyas
The Georgetown Hoyas have some of the most iconic uniforms in college basketball history. Georgetown’s gray and navy blue uniforms from the Allen Iverson era are the epitome of college hoops.
Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee’s orange uniforms represent the Vols brand perfectly, in a simple and clean way. Tennessee’s white uniform, with “Vols” above the number, nicely complements the orange uniform.
Michigan State Spartans
Michigan State’s traditional green and white uniforms are a staple of college hoops. Michigan State’s traditional uniforms are recognizable by the “Spartans” font above the number and the large Spartan logo on the shorts. Nothing is exaggerated about it.
The Seton Hall Pirates
The Seton Hall Pirates have some of the most underrated uniforms in college. The colorway is clean and the “Seton Hall” script is superb.

Although not as iconic like their football uniforms, Texas basketball still has some of the cleanest designs of any college hoops uniform. The white and burnt orange uniforms are simple and perfectly represent the huge Longhorns brand.
