The New York Rangers are looking to acquire a top player.
According to The Athletic, the Rangers have inquired about Vancouver Canucks forward JT Miller.
“A league source said the Rangers recently made inquiries from the Canucks regarding JT Miller, who is currently on indefinite leave. » Arthur Staple and Peter Baugh of The Athletic wrote. “Miller was a first-round pick of the Rangers in 2011 and was previously coveted by Drury – the Rangers were looking for Miller before the 2021-22 trade deadline, but would not include Braden Schneider in a deal. Miller then signed a seven-year extension worth $8 million per year, effectively taking him off the market.
Miller took an indefinite leave of absence from the Canucks on Nov. 19 for personal reasons and has not played since.
“Right now, our only goal is to make sure JT knows the entire organization is here to support him,” Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin said in a statement.
Rangers general manager Chris Drury is reportedly interested in making moves and changes to their roster, and a trade for Miller would certainly fit the bill.
Miller had a career year last season recording 37 goals, 66 assists and 103 points in 81 games.
The veteran forward was drafted by the Rangers in 2011 and played six seasons in New York before being traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
