The impact of wet weather on sporting events has been a popular topic this weekend, and it appears it will be NASCAR’s turn to avoid the rain Sunday afternoon at Texas Motor Speedway.
The latest NASCAR weather forecast for Texas calls for rain, although there is also reason for optimism.
As is usually the case, it’s the timing of any potential rain that is key to determining whether NASCAR will run the full 400 miles today in Texas or whether we’ll face a shortened or even postponed Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 (3:30 p.m. ET, United States) today.
Below is updated NASCAR weather for Texas, including the hourly breakdown for Sunday afternoon in Fort Worth, Texas.
NASCAR Weather Forecast for Texas
According to the National Weather Service, it will be hot, very hot Sunday afternoon at Texas Motor Speedway, with high temperatures reaching 103 degrees and a heat index reaching 107.
Thunderstorms are also possible with a 50% chance of rain in Fort Worth as well.
Based on the time breakdown, there is only a 12% chance of rain at 3 p.m. ET, so the start of the race looks promising.
However, this percentage increases to approximately 50% per hour starting at 5 p.m. ET and continuing through the rest of the evening.
It helps that Texas Motor Speedway is equipped with lights, so NASCAR can be patient if the forecast clears up at some point tonight.
Live NASCAR Odds show Kyle Larson as the race favorite at +500 with Denny Hamlin (+525) right behind and ahead of Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr., Ross Chastain, Tyler Reddick and William Byron all available at 10-1 to 12-1.
