New parents who want their sons to play golfy could start whispering “Pine Valley”. The USGA says that the legendary course of New Jersey will host the Walker Cup in 2044. There is a chance that the players of one or the other team have not yet been born.
“We are committed to bringing our championships to the best golf courses in the country,” said John Bodenhamer, director of the USGA championships. “Having Pine Valley as host site of this prestigious event will not only produce a memorable competition, but will also strengthen the stature of amateur golf course worldwide.”
This year’s Walker Cup goes to Cypress Point for the first time. In the United States, future sites included Oakmont in 2032 and the Chicago Golf Club in 2036.
It will be the third time that Pine Valley has hosted the Walker Cup, more recently in 1985, a team that featured Davis Love III and Scott Verplank.
