The 2027 Ryder Cup will take place at Adare Manor in Ireland, and while we don’t yet know who will captain both teams, it has been reported that Justin Rose will withdraw his name as a candidate.
As reported by James Corrigan of the TelegraphRose, who had been heavily tipped for the role in 2027, is expected to announce he will officially withdraw his name as a candidate as he attempts to make an eighth appearance at the event.
According to the report, the move will now put Francesco Molinari in the driver’s seat to become European captain in 2027, and he could even take on the role of co-captain with his brother Edoardo.
Luke Donald remains in contention to captain the team for a third time, with the Englishman having successfully captained the team in 2023 and 2025.
Rose had a great season in 2025, winning for the first time on the PGA Tour since 2023, and pushing Rory McIlroy all the way at the Masters in April.
