Yasir Durant will become an unrestricted free agent when the 2026 league season opens.
The New England Patriots have made the decision not to offer the offensive tackle, as reported Thursday MassLive’s Mark Danielsallowing him to hit the NFL open market next week.

Durant, 27, was profiled as a restricted free agent in Foxborough alongside quarterback Tommy DeVito, defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy, linebacker Jack Gibbens and cornerback Alex Austin. The former commercial acquisition returned to New England during a one year contract last June and was waived with a injury designation during the first week of training camp in July.
After going unclaimed, Durant reverse on the organization’s injured reserve for the entirety of the 2025 campaign while carrying a shared salary of $540,000.
The 6-foot-7, 330-pound Durant initially entered the league as an undrafted rookie with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020. The following preseason, he headed to Gillette Stadium via trade and subsequently appeared in seven games, making one start at right tackle.
After being waived at the 53-man deadline in 2022, the Arizona Western and Missouri product made subsequent stops with the New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos.

Durant appeared in 19 games during his NFL career, with 188 snaps on offense and 85 snaps on special teams. He spent the last two spring seasons with the DC Defenders and was named an All-UFL selection at left tackle for the defending champions.
The new league year officially begins at 4 p.m. ET on March 11.
