Endrick has been monopolizing the attention of late after a stunning performance against RB Salzburg in the UEFA Champions League.
The young Brazilian striker was one of the protagonists of Real Madrid’s 5-1 victory against the Austrian giants, notably scoring a brace. He outperformed even Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior in this match, although both of those strikers also managed to find the back of the net.
That said, Endrick has had a less than perfect season thus far, falling behind in the pecking order and only limited to making the odd appearance here and there.
What the Palmeiras president said about Endrick
In a recent interview with The Athletic, Palmeiras president Leila Pereira shared an anecdote: a conversation with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez when the two teams were negotiating the transfer of Endrick.
Leila revealed what Perez told her (h/t AS), “They told me Endrick was better than Pelé” to which the president of Palmeiras replied: “Relax, President, no one like Pelé was ever born.”
Leila then shared her thoughts on Endrick’s current predicament at Santiago Bernabeu, notably encouraging the youngster to succeed.
“He will be very, very happy at Real Madrid, I have no doubt. He is very young, a young talent, but it is difficult for a child to leave Brazil and adapt immediately.
“He will be patient because he is very determined, he is very focused. He will shine a lot at Real Madrid. she said.
Finally, Leila Pereira also addressed the rumors about Endrick’s potential return to Palmeiras following his current struggles at Real Madrid.
“No, we never talked about it. There’s no chance. For something like this to happen, it has to be good for Palmeiras, for the player and for Real Madrid.“, she declared bluntly.
“There was never any question of his return because it was expected that he would have to adapt to the new club and to Europe,” she concludes.
There is actually no discussion in the Real Madrid camp around Endrick’s potential departure in January and the player will only assess his future during the summer.
