Hull City striker Oli McBurnie gave an overview of the locker room at halftime in their 2-2 draw with Preston North End at MKM Stadium.
City was taken cold very early, finding itself two goals behind the first 10 minutes.
McBurnie led the two goals while the Tigers set up a second half to save a point.
The Scottish striker discussed the part-time process while his team sought to get back into the game.
“It’s a bit like the story of our season – a really good half, and half a really bad. Conceding two goals so early, giving us a difficult battle is not ideal,” McBurnie told BBC Radio Humberside.
“At halftime, we said” let’s see what we are, see what we are made of “. Moments like this are there that you can know a lot about the boys in the locker room. The skipper said at halftime” let’s put it in bed, we will talk about it after, let’s see what we are done now “.
“I think we came out in the second half and that we looked like a completely different team and shown how good we can be when we are on the front.”
Hull appointed head coach Sergej Jakirovic in June and Bosnia had an incoherent start on his side in the first eight games of the season.
McBurnie was one of the 12 new summer signatures and quickly praised Jakirovic for his triple half-time substitution that saw Liam Millar, Joe Gelhardt and Redan Slater replace Amir Hadziahmetovic, Cody Drameh and Kasey Palmer.
“The gaffer has made three changes,” he said. “I thought the boys who came were excellent – it gave us real energy and it had an impact on the game as we wanted. Buffer for Liam (Millar) to come after having been so long, but I thought that all the boys who came really changed us for the positive.
“It is not only to say the boys who came out, it was their fault, because each of us could have been removed at halftime. But the gaffer showing the initiative to know that we had to change something, and that worked perfectly.
“We are disappointed not to leave with the three points because I think we were good enough in the second half to do it, and to be fair, their goalkeeper withdrew one of the stands in the 94th minute to keep them in the game.”
