The Oklahoma City Thunder added some new young players to their roster in the 2024 NBA Draft by selecting 18-year-old prospect Nikola Topic with the 12th overall pick. Topic is just 18 years old and shows great promise, averaging 15.1 points per game in the Adriatic League, leading his team to the championship.
He was also named the 2023 FIBA 18U Championship MVP after leading Serbia to a gold medal. However, Topic is a bit of a project, with scouts believing he struggles with his jump shot at times and coming off an ACL injury.
But the Thunder were impressed enough with his accolades and potential to take a chance on him with the No. 12 overall pick. The Thunder also traded up to the 26th overall pick to the New York Knicks, giving them five second-round picks in exchange, which they used to take Dillon Jones from Weber State.
