It’s finally starting to feel like spring in Columbus, Ohio. In just one week, this year’s Ohio State Buckeyes will take the field as the Buckeyes’ first spring practice is scheduled for March 10.
These practices are crucial for the coaching staff to not only find the Buckeyes’ identity and personnel decisions this year, but also for Ryan Day and the coaching staff who will soon welcome many of the top talents in the country.

Ohio State’s spring visitor list is a monster, and it continues to grow daily. The upcoming visits will help the Buckeyes focus on recruits they believe have what it takes to build a future Buckeye and are also a key recruiting tool for Ohio Sate.
Over the coming weeks and months, Ohio State’s 2027 recruiting class will begin to come together even more than it already has. The Buckeyes currently hold verbal commitments from nine of the nation’s top prospects, which is good enough for the No. 3 class according to 247Sports.
Class is highlighted by a five-star perk DJ Jacobs and five-star wide receiver Jamie Brownand the Buckeyes also have their signal caller in four-star quarterback Brady Edmunds.
While this is already an impressive group, Ohio State is always looking to add to that tally and on Monday the team took a big step forward by landing another elite prospect at WR when five-star Kesean Bowman (Brentwood, TN/Brentwood Academy) announced its top five schools and Ohio State was in the group of finalists.
Ohio State has some serious competition for Bowman as Alabama, Miami, Tennessee and Vanderbilt also made the list. Before his top five was announced, Vanderbilt and Nebraska appeared to be the favorites for his recruitment.

Surprisingly, Nebraska wasn’t in his top five, but Vanderbilt remained. Because of this, it’s safe to assume that Vanerbilt and Tennessee are the Buckeyes’ biggest competitors, but Alabama and Miami can never be counted out, especially in the NIL era of college football recruiting.
Bowman is no stranger to Ohio State. The Buckeyes offered him in June 2025. Following the offer, Bowman wasted no time getting to Ohio State’s campus and took an unofficial visit with the Buckeyes for their home opener against Texas. Ohio State will have to bring him back to campus to remain a candidate, and expects them to do so.
Bowman has not yet released his spring visit schedule, but he will visit Vanderbilt later this month. Ohio State will certainly try to get him on campus at some point this spring, but the most important thing will be getting him back on campus for an official visit. Bowman will likely schedule official visits with all of his finalists and those visits will go a long way in helping him make his decision.
As was previously mentioned, Ohio State already has a blue-chip wide receiver committed to its 2027 class in Jamier Brown. However, there was talk of his hesitation over his promise, although he said otherwise. As long as Brown follows through on his commitment, Bowman would be a great addition to the position and the result would be an incredible win for new Ohio State wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton.

If Bowman chooses to reject the Buckeyes in favor of one of his other finalists, the Buckeyes have other options to add alongside Brown.
Ohio State is also actively recruiting many other top players in the country, including five-star players. Sales Monshunwho recently scheduled an official visit to Ohio State in June. Sales won’t be alone during his official visit as a fellow five-star WR Eric McFarland will also make an official visit at the same time.
Bowman is the No. 6 WR in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 31 national recruit. He is also Tennessee’s No. 2 recruit.
Quick hits
Ohio State saw another member of the 2027 recruiting class announce an upcoming official visit with the Buckeyes. Cornerback 2027 Bryce Woods (Atlanta, Ga./Woodward Academy) took to social media Monday to announce he will be taking an official visit to Columbus June 12-14.

Woods doesn’t yet hold an All-Star ranking from 247Sports, but if his offer list has anything to say about that, that will change soon. Woods holds offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Duke, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and more.
