Great Britain Cameron Norrie suffered an exhausting defeat in three sets against the American Reilly Opelka to leave the Dallas Open in the last 16.
British number two Norrie, 29, lost 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 in a match that lasted half past two.
There was not much between the pair, both with 71% of their points on the service and the sharing of the 202 points played equally.
The Joker Opelka, however, found the advantage – recovering from a set down to win an equality break in the second set before breaking in the third game in the final set.
Norrie maintained her service after that but could not recover the break.
