THE Oklahoma City Thunder selected Nikola Topic with the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft.

The talented Serbian point guard, who played for Mega and Red Star in his home country, is billed as an OKC player and has confirmed he will undergo surgery for his partially torn ACL, as reported by Clemente Almanza.

Oklahoma already had a similar situation with Chet Holmgren after the 2022 draft, as the second overall pick missed his entire first season with a Lisfranc foot injury.

“I’m really grateful that they have experience with Chet, who didn’t play his first season,” Subject said. “We assume that will be the case for me. I’m really, really grateful for this opportunity. I’m going to do my best to be the best version of myself.”.”

Despite the news of his injury, Topic was in good spirits and chose the No. 44 jersey at his new club, the same one he wore at Red Star.

“I will play hard. I will give 150% on every ball, every possession, every defense. I will do whatever it takes to win,” added the young Serbian player.

He also mentioned fellow OKC point guard Vasilije Micic.

“I am really grateful to be here with this great organization. I heard a lot about them from Vasilije Micic. I am really, really grateful for this opportunity..”
