The Eagles scored two touchdowns in the first half of Sunday’s game against the 49ers, but their offense couldn’t get back into the end zone after halftime and the 49ers will advance to a showdown with the Seahawks after a 23-19 victory at Lincoln Financial Field.
It was a familiar scenario for the Eagles this season and head coach Nick Sirianni called the offensive inconsistency “a little bit of our story as the year went on.” Sirianni hit familiar notes by saying he didn’t think the team became too conservative after halftime and would look for every answer possible to unlock a better performance.

Another familiar trope of Sirianni’s postgame press conferences involves questions about offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. Patullo’s work in his first season on games has been closely scrutinized and Sirianni said the team will do the same in the coming days.
“There will be time to evaluate everyone’s performance,” Sirianni said, via a team transcript. “Right now, I’m thinking about all of our guys in the locker room, all the players, all the coaches, the front office, everyone who works so hard, the fans who come out to support us, Mr. (team owner Jeffrey) Lurie. I’m thinking about all of us, all of us, and there will be time to evaluate everything that’s going to happen.”
Patullo was the Eagles’ fourth offensive coordinator in the past four seasons. Two of his predecessors moved on to head coaching positions, but the other was fired and Patullo could join that side of the ledger if the Eagles decide he was the weak link this year.
