The Niagara Purple Eagles have hired former NHL goaltender Dwayne Roloson as director of hockey development, the team announced Thursday.

A native of Simcoe, Ontario, Roloson spent the last two seasons at Lake Superior State as director of player development.
Turning professional in 1994, Roloson would spend 16 seasons playing in the NHL for the Calgary Flames, Buffalo Sabres, Minnesota Wild, Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning.
In 606 career NHL regular season games, Roloson posted a 227-257-82 record, along with a 2.72 GAA and 0.908 SV. He also made 50 postseason appearances, compiling a 28-18 record, a 2.54 GAA and a .918 SV.
Since retiring from the game in 2014, Roloson has worked for UMass-Lowell, the Norfolk Admirals (AHL), the Anaheim Ducks, the Victoria Royals (WHL) and Lake Superior in various roles ranging from goalkeeping consultant to skills coach.
As Roloson joins Niagara, he is expected to strengthen his team and help his players take the next step in their development.
