Safeguard percentage in case of high danger: .887 – Brandon Bussi (G, RCA)
Among goaltenders who have played at least 10 games this season, Bussi leads the NHL in high-danger save percentage, stopping 102 of 115 high-danger shots. The Hurricanes goaltender, who has been part of a three-goalie rotation with Frederik Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov, is 11-1-1 with a .913 save percentage and one shutout this season.
Before Bussi’s shootout loss to the Florida Panthers on Friday, he had tied Cam Ward (2008-09) for the longest winning streak in franchise history (nine games). The Hurricanes, as a team, once again lead the NHL in offensive zone time percentage (45.9) and 5-on-5 shot attempt percentage (59.1) this season.
Skating speed: 24.61 miles per hour – Connor McDavid (F, EDM)
McDavid reached his NHL EDGE tracking era maximum skating speed (since 2021-22) for the Edmonton Oilers in the second period against the Calgary Flames on October 8, surpassing his previous high of 24.19 mph from the 2023-24 season.
The only skating speed faster than McDavid in the regular season or Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2021-22 was Miles Wood’s (24.82 mph) last season. McDavid leads the NHL in bursts of speed over 22 mph (63) and over 20 mph (290) this season.
