NHL 24 Patch 1.2.1 is available today to address hip checks, reverse kicks, stick attaches, and other gameplay issues. The update also fixes World of Chel, Franchise Mode, Be a Pro, and some audio issues. The tuner adjusts goaltenders, reduces teammate penalties and much more. Check Check out the patch notes and tuner details below.
Key fixes and improvements
- Fixed an issue that caused players to enter matches wearing a default black EASHL jersey instead of their own.
- Hip Checks now use the default interference logic to create more consistent penalty calls.
- The player initiating a Hip Check must be completely in the Hip Check animation for a hip check to be successful.
- Added logic that requires higher relative speed between the Hip Checker and the hit to create large hip control reactions.
- Reduced time the puck must be out of the zone to end full pressure from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.
- Reduced the negative attribute multiplier applied to pinned players during full pressure from 20% to 15%.
- Removed the negative energy drain multiplier for a penalty team, to avoid double stacking with the energy drain multiplier at full pressure.
- The likelihood of a CPU teammate taking penalties has been significantly reduced and this has been made consistent across all playstyles.
Gameplay
Community Comments: Hip Checks are really fun to use and useful for landing big shots, but they are too overpowered in non-authentic situations and the risk of taking a penalty is too low.
- Hip Checks now use the default interference logic to create more consistent penalty calls.
- The player initiating a Hip Check must be completely in the Hip Check animation for a hip check to be successful.
- Players experiencing hip check can slow down before contact to help reduce the impact and reaction of hip check.
- Added logic that requires higher relative speed between the Hip Checker and the hit to create large hip control reactions.
Community Feedback: When using the Total Controls controller system, players accidentally trigger Reverse Hit by clicking the right stick while trying to perform feints or shots.
- When using the Total Control controller system, Reverse Hit will not be triggered when the puck carrier is in a Right Stick Stickhandle or Deke animation.
- The skater must be in a neutral skating/sliding state in order to initiate a reverse shot.
Other gameplay fixes:
- Fixed an issue where AI teammates would trigger stick freezes for a few frames, which could result in an interference penalty.
- Fixed an issue where shoulder checks could target a player without the puck, even if the player had the puck carrier lined up.
- Fixed an issue that prevented Be A Pro players from performing the crotch feint while using the Total Control system.
NHL 24 Tuner Bundle Details
Community Feedback: Removing the R2/RT shot glitch made the shot less effective and overall less of a viable threat. This causes players to focus on scoring through extremely close range shots, backdoor shots, and breakaways, making the score predictable. Players want the shot to be a threat, especially in optimal shot locations and as your opponent’s goalie becomes more fatigued.
- For CPU goalkeepers, increased the maximum accuracy error when the goalkeeper makes a save with a low accuracy score. This will result in more opportunities for shots to beat the goalie and create more unpredictable results, especially as a goalie becomes more fatigued.
- The distance required to trigger Thunderclap and Heatseeker has been reduced by 10 feet, allowing skaters to get closer to the net to launch shots home with these X-factors.
- Reduced the Near Net power modifier on close range shots from 20ft to 15ft to increase the threat of shots from inside the location.
Community Comments: The impact of Full Pressure on the pinned team is too powerful and does not seem authentic to the situation. Full pressure on a penalty kick is very punishing and the time it takes to end the full pressure when the puck is out of the zone is too long.
Community Comments: Goalies take too long to recover energy when the puck is out of the zone and the goaltender slowly draining energy when the puck is in the zone doesn’t feel authentic.
- Removed the energy loss a goalie receives when the puck is in their defensive end.
- Slightly increased the amount of stamina a goalkeeper loses when making a save.
- (Stamina loss is mitigated by the durability attribute)
- Increased goalie neutral zone energy recovery to be the same as energy recovery when the puck is in the offensive zone. (Energy recovery is improved by the stamina attribute)
Community Feedback: CPU teammates take too many penalties, causing frustration, especially in competitive games.
- The likelihood of a CPU teammate taking penalties has been significantly reduced and this has been made consistent across all playstyles.
Other gameplay updates:
- Disabled chance of triggering auto-battles from hits on the boards.
- Reduced the range that defending players can push in check in front of the net with a reduced chance of taking an interference penalty, from 40 feet to 30 feet.
- Increased chance of a CPU goalie making a Michigan save attempt from 30% to 80% when in position.
- Adjusted game/period player highlight scoring weights to provide more highlights for important goals and big saves.
