Conference championship games are held in the NFL. In the AFC, the Chiefs are back on the brink of the Super Bowl for the seventh straight season and face the Bills in what has become one of the NFL’s preeminent rivalries this decade. In the NFC, the Eagles are looking to return to a second Super Bowl in three years, and they will host the Commanders, who are in their first NFC title game since the 1991 season.
Bumps and bruises are the name of the game this time of the season, and while some teams don’t face many… at least that’s what Andy Reid said coming out of the divisional round — others are waiting for news from the coaches room.
Jalen Hurts knee injury
The Eagles quarterback, who missed the final two weeks of the regular season with a concussion, injured his knee in the third quarter of the 28-22 victory over the Rams in the divisional round. He was able to finish the match, but he was wearing a knee brace. After the victory, Hurts refused to say anything other than him. “finished the game” when asked by NBC Sports’ Melissa Stark if he was OK after his injury.
In his postgame press conference, Hurts said he expected to be ready to play next week. The Eagles have not said anything about the injury — team injury reports will be released later in the week before Sunday’s NFC title game in Philadelphia.
Commanders leave on guard duty for the season
Sam Cosmi, who signed a 4-year contract worth $74 million before the season as one of the league’s 10 highest-paid guards, will miss the rest of the season he suffered a torn ACL during the team’s 45–31 victory over the Lions. He has started every game for the Commanders over the past two seasons and is in his fourth season. Backup Trent Scott will likely be the first to replace Cosmi.
