Oklahoma City Thunder guard Nikola Topic has begun chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with testicular cancer, general manager Sam Presti announced Thursday.
According to Presti, doctors are “extremely positive” about Topic’s long-term health.
“Our only expectations of him are to focus on that,” Presti said. “That’s his biggest priority. He’ll come back and play basketball when he’s able, but obviously we’re not putting any delays or expectations on that. He has all of our support, encouragement and love.”
The subject, 20, underwent a procedure Oct. 6 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston to obtain a biopsy.
The Thunder selected Topic 12th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, but he tore an ACL in his left knee a few weeks before the draft and did not play as a rookie. — Field media/Reuters
