NBA Summary: Cavaliers honor LeBron James, beat Lakers to extend winning streak

Donovan Mitchell scored 25 points and Jaylon Tyson added 20 points and six assists as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the visiting Los Angeles Lakers 129-99, extending their season-best winning streak to five games while honoring LeBron James on Wednesday night.

De’Andre Hunter scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half and Jarrett Allen had 17 points and nine rebounds for Cleveland, which is 12-4 since Dec. 29. Dean Wade added 11 points and Thomas Bryant scored 10.

Los Angeles is 3-2 on an eight-game trip, necessitated by the Grammy Awards storming its arena. Bronny James scored eight points on 3-of-3 shooting from the field in eight minutes in the fourth, receiving loud cheers upon entering the game.

LeBron James, who led the Cavaliers to their only championship in 2016, fell to 9-4 as an opponent in Cleveland, including 4-3 with the Lakers. Akron, 41, an Ohio native, spent 11 seasons with his hometown team, taking the franchise to all five of its NBA Finals appearances. The Cavaliers released a video tribute to James during the game, bringing the star to tears.

Warriors 140, Jazz 124

Stephen Curry scored 27 points and Moses Moody added 26 as Golden State set a record for points scored to win in Salt Lake City. Utah has given up more than 140 points nine times this season.

Gui Santos added a season-high 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting, and fellow reserves Buddy Hield and Will Richard had 13 points each for the Warriors, who beat the Jazz for the 10th time in the last 11 meetings and improved to 6-3 over the last nine games.

Brice Sensabaugh scored 22 points off the bench, Keyonte George recorded 19 points and seven assists, and Ace Bailey had 19 points and seven rebounds for the Jazz, who have lost eight of their last nine games. Utah’s Lauri Markkanen added 18 points.

Spurs 111, Rockets 99

Victor Wembanyama recorded his 21st double-double, Keldon Johnson scored 17 points off the bench and visiting San Antonio rallied from a 16-point deficit to defeat Houston.

Wembanyama combined for 28 points with 16 rebounds and added five blocked shots to fuel the comeback. The Spurs scored 72 points in the paint en route to their fifth win in seven games.

Amen Thompson led the Rockets with 25 points, while Kevin Durant added 24. Alperen Sengun had 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for Houston, which had won five of its previous six games.

Knicks 119, Raptors 92

Mikal Bridges scored 19 of his 30 points in the third quarter, helping New York win in Toronto.

OG Anunoby added 26 points, six steals and two blocks for the Knicks, who have won four in a row overall and 11 in a row against the Raptors. Karl-Anthony Towns had a season-high eight points and 22 rebounds.

Brandon Ingram scored 27 points for the ‌Raptors, who snapped a four-game winning streak. Scottie Barnes added 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Falcons 117, Celtics 106

Jalen Johnson had 19 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists to help Atlanta extend its winning streak to four games by beating Boston.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker led Atlanta with 21 points. The Hawks received 17 points from Onyeka Okongwu and 15 from Dyson Daniels. Atlanta made 18 of its 42 3-point attempts and scored 23 points off 16 Boston turnovers.

Jaylen Brown led Boston with 21 points and seven rebounds, but he was 9 of 20 from the field and missed all five of his 3-point shots. Sam Hauser, Payton Pritchard and Anfernee Simons each threw 12 for the Celtics.

Pacers 113, Bulls 110

Pascal Siakam scored 13 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter and Indiana closed the game on a 26-9 run to beat Chicago in Indianapolis.

Andrew Nembhard added 18 points, nine assists and six rebounds for Indiana, which trailed by 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Nikola Vucevic led the Bulls with 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Matas Buzelis added 20 points and eight rebounds.

Magic 133, Heat 124

Paolo Banchero produced 31 points and 12 rebounds to help visiting Orlando beat intrastate rival Miami.

Anthony Black added 26 points and Desmond Bane scored 23 for the Magic, who snapped a four-game losing streak. Jalen Suggs had 16 and Tristan da Silva finished with 12. Simone Fontecchio scored a season-high 23 points for Miami, while Bam Adebayo had 21 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists.

Down nine at halftime, Orlando opened the third quarter on an 18-7 run and took a 77-75 advantage on Bane’s 3-pointer with 6:37 to play. The Heat would tie the game twice at 77-77 and 79-79, but after a black 3-pointer made it 82-79, the Magic never trailed again.

Hornets 112, Grizzlies 97

Brandon Miller scored 26 points, Miles Bridges added 20 and Moussa Diabaté had 18 points and a career-high 20 rebounds to lead visiting Charlotte over Memphis for its fourth straight victory.

LaMelo Ball contributed 16 points and rookie Kon Knueppel contributed 10 points and six assists for the Hornets, who won for the 20th time this season to surpass last year’s win total.

Jaren Jackson Jr. led the Grizzlies with 26 points and rookie Cedric Coward finished with 17. GG Jackson scored 12 points coming off the bench.

Timberwolves 118, Mavericks 105

Julius Randle scored a game-high 31 points and Anthony Edwards added 20 points, six rebounds and six assists to lead Minnesota to a road victory over Dallas.

Naz Reid was a force for the Timberwolves with 23 points off the bench on 9-of-17 shooting. Minnesota earned its second straight victory after a five-game losing streak.

PJ Washington led the way for the Mavericks with 21 points, all coming in the second half. Naji Marshall finished with 18 points and six rebounds, and Brandon Williams added 17 off the bench as Dallas lost its second straight game after winning four straight.
