“As we began to talk about our 2024 schedule and the changes we planned to make, Watkins Glen’s move to the playoffs continued to be a topic of conversation simply with the incredible races we continue to host at Watkins Glen and knowing that the playoffs would change the dynamic of that first round, it was just something that we thought would be really great for the fans,” said Chip Wile, senior vice president and director of track properties at NASCAR. “It was fun to be able to cross the goal line and I know the racing fans in upstate New York are going to be screaming to be able to participate in this race in September.”
