Tyler Reddick won three out of three in the NASCAR Cup Series at COTA on Sunday, but revealed after the race that his day wasn’t quite perfect.
Those who watch the 23XI Race The star going up to collect his trophy after the race may have noticed a grimace as he walked up the steps to the stage, which he explained in his post-race press conference.
Reddick was asked if the heat that caused problems for some drivers that day – AJ Allmeninger was put on a stretcher after the race after his cool suit broke and his helmet hose was “blowing hot air” – but he revealed the problem was something else entirely.
The 30-year-old revealed he had struggled with his sciatic nerve in the past and, while he wasn’t bothered by it during the 95 laps leading to victory in Austin, it “really flared up” when he left his racing seat.

Reddick: I’m just getting older
Speaking to the press, he explained: “Yes, over the years I would say the one that was the worst was Fontana in 2022, that my leg fell asleep when I was leading that race when I was at RCR, and unfortunately we had a puncture that day.
“Yes, over the years I’ve had issues with my sciatic nerve at times. I didn’t really feel it in the car, which was nice today, but as soon as I got out and started I was really excited. But it gets better.
“I don’t think it was the heat, no, not for me. I’m just getting older.”
Kyle Larson, Ryan Preece and the aforementioned Allmendinger all had suit issues, with the latter going to the on-field care center after getting out of his car at the end of the race. He was released after a medical evaluation.
