It’s been a great season so far filled with great moments for baseball. We have very good cards, enough to start creating real thematic teams in MLB The Show 22.

As new players are released, teams will change. But this is the best team available at the moment.

Before we begin, let’s review some of the guidelines we’ll be using:

  1. At least two current active players
  2. In order to qualify for the team, the player must have played at least 50 matches with the team, or Future Stars cards. Pitchers need at least 20 appearances to qualify
  3. The player’s card may belong to a different team, provided they have played for the specific theme team at any given time.
  4. The team will consist of eight position players and three pitchers, one starter and two relievers.
  5. No secondary positions, only primary positions

The next thematic team we will look at is the Boston Red Sox.

Receiver – Second Half 2011 Mike Napoli #25

Our first card is catcher, Mike Napoli. Naples spent three years in Boston, but his 96th season overall in 2001 was with the Texas Rangers. He has near max contact against both and great power as well. Naples is an easy choice at receiver.

First Base – Lead David Ortiz #34

It was the easiest choice for the whole team. 99 in total Prime Big Papi. He crushes the baseball with absolute ease. The downside is his defense and speed, but that’s okay.

Second Base – Milestone Brock Holt #26

Our second basemen will be Milestone Brock Holt. Holt received his overall card of 91 for one of his two career cycles. Holt has excellent stats across the board and will make a great second baseman.

Third Base – Lightning POTM Rafael Devers #11 from May 2022

In May of this year, Rafael Devers had an exceptional month. He has good contact and power against both sides. And to top it off, his overall rating of 95 also has excellent defense.

Shortstop – Silver Slugger Xander Bogaerts #2

Xander Bogaerts starts as the abbreviation of the theme team. He has almost 100 in all major hitting stats and his great speed. Bogaerts has one of the best swings in the entire game. His Silver Slugger Card of 96 overall was an easy choice.

Left Field – All-Star JD Martinez #28

Left field was once again an easy choice. All-Star JD Martinez has some of the best contact stats in the game. Paired with average power, Martinez is a great left fielder to use.

Center Field – Veteran Johnny Damon 2004 #18

Center field was difficult to find. The best option available is 84 overall, veteran Johnny Damon from 2004. He has average stats all around with above average speed.

Right Field – Paris All-Star Mookie 2018 #50

This pick will upset some Red Sox fans, but it’s Mookie Betts. Although he’s no longer in Boston, his 2018 All-Star card of 95 overall is incredible. He has good contact, good defense and good speed. And he has such an easy swing to hit.

Starting Pitcher – June 2015 Lightning Chris Sale #49

Now for the launchers. First, there’s the Lightning Chris sale from June 2015. That was back when he was a member of the White Sox, but over the last few healthy seasons in Boston, Sale has been as lights out as ever. habit.

Relief Pitcher – 2018 Post-season Nathan Eovaldi #24

Our relief pitcher choice is essentially a starting pitcher. In 2018, Nathan Eovaldi started and pitched out of the bullpen for the Red Sox as they won the World Series.

Closing thrower – Takashi Okazaki Eric Gagné #38

Now let’s move on to our final pick, which was a little difficult to find. But we can choose 93 overall Takashi Okazaki Eric Gagné. He wasn’t known as a Red Sox, but he had the qualifications to be a part of that closest team.
