MLB players have yet another problem to solve when it comes to the league’s new uniforms.
Wardrobe malfunctions are the latest problem in the MLBit’s new Nike Vapor Premier uniforms ahead of the 2024 season.
Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers posted a photo of their two free agent signings, Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, modeling the new uniforms produced by Fanatics.
However, the jerseys can be seen tucked into their pants.
The white pants appear transparent.
Another post of the new outfit has gone viral as the Seattle Mariners revealed a clip of wide receiver Cal Raleigh presenting the uniforms.
Raleigh’s jersey was also visible through the pants.
The pants issues with the new uniforms come after widespread criticism of Nike jerseys.
Fans and even MLB players said the outfits had worse look, quality and lack of customization options than previous jerseys.
Executive Director of the MLB Players Association Tony Clark told reporters Tuesday that players are “frustrated” with the uniforms.
Clark even admitted that the players’ association wanted the situation resolved.
“Every time there is a change, there is a period of adjustment. Sometimes this period of adjustment goes well, sometimes not so much. In this case, there seem to be hiccups that otherwise would not couldn’t have been duds,” Clark said.
“We try to make sure our guys have what they need in the way they need it.
“And it reflects what being a major league baseball player should be like.
“Hopefully we can accomplish some things over the next six weeks of spring training.”
Several star players came out and shared their distaste for the uniforms, including Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner, who told the Associated Press: “I know everyone hates them.”
The Dodgers and San Diego Padres will wear the new jerseys for the world to see when they play in the first spring training game of the season on Thursday.
Opening day begins March 28, so time is of the essence when it comes to uniform changes.
