Broncos second coach Michael Wilhoite was arrested on Sunday evening and accused of having attacked a police officer.
Wilhoite was reserved in downtown Denver prison suspicion of a police officer’s second degree And should appear before the county court of Denver on Monday morning, according to Mike Klis de Kusa.
No details on what happened to have led to the arrest of Wilhoïte was published. The Broncos have published a brief statement recognizing the arrest.
“We are aware of a situation involving Michael Wilhoïte which occurred on Sunday and is collecting more information,” the broncos press release said.
Wilhoite, 38, was not drafted leaving Division II Washburn in 2011 and had to start his professional career with the United Football League, but he played well enough to attract the attention of the NFL and had a Short career as a second with the 49ers and the Seahawks. He was then hired to work on Sean Payton coaches staff with the Saints in 2019 and 2020, spent two years as the seconds coach in 2021 and 2022, then was again hired by Payton on broncos in 2023.
