Luisangel Acuña gets the call from The Show.
The 22-year-old prospect is expected to join the Put SNY’s Joe DeMayo confirmed Saturday that he has left Triple-A Syracuse. No corresponding move has been announced.
The decision to recall Acuña follows Francisco Lindor leaving Friday’s 11-3 victory over the Phillies Lindor suffered a back injury in the seventh inning. While Lindor hopes not to miss much time, if any, Acuña’s presence gives the Mets more depth in the infield.
Acuña, acquired in an exchange with the Rangers last season and the Mets’ 12th-The No. 1-ranked prospect on MLB Pipeline spent the entire 2024 season in Triple-A. His biggest strength is his speed — he stole 40 bases in 131 games this season.
At bat, he hit .258/.299/.355 with seven home runs, 50 RBIs and a .654 OPS.
Acuña is the younger brother of Atlanta Braves star, Ronald Acuña Jr.
