Matthews — known as Ashton Matthews in the video as part of the disguise — started things off by trying to trick customers into doing mischief in order to win a gift card. He asked the first customer to drink apple juice for a gift card, then had to ask a pregnant woman to do 10 push-ups for the gift card. Since she couldn’t do them herself, Matthews had to do them for her.
Marner (aka Mitchelli Marner) was next, working the register as a bagger, and the guys behind the scenes were feeding him a few bites of customers’ groceries.
The four Maple Leafs then ditched the disguises and helped customers with their shopping in their cars.
