Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a loan for a move Marcus Rashford and studied whether an agreement was possible.
We increasingly have the feeling that the 27-year-old played his last match For Manchester Unitedin a context of increasing market movement, and Ruben Amorim simply saying “we’ll see” in response to questions about it on Sunday.
This has yet to translate into much interest from Premier League clubs, with only West Ham having already watched to the possibility, although it is understood that Tottenham have also considered the idea and there have been informal discussions.
Such an agreement is nevertheless considered highly unlikelydue to the prospective structure of the offer and the current belief that Rashford is much more likely to move abroad.
The player is known to earn over £300,000 per week, and Spurs’ current wage structure means they won’t hit that figure. Any move would only be possible if United contributed a significant portion of his salary, which is already considered unlikely.
The Old Trafford hierarchy are aware that interested clubs will look to take advantage of wage negotiations over any loan due to the need for Rashford to move, but legitimate interest from Europe means they have a stronger hand in the negotiations.
AC Milan and Juventus let’s look at Rashfordbut it is Borussia Dortmund who are currently seen as offering one of the most attractive options. The striker is friends with Jadon Sancho, who enjoyed a period of resurgence at the Bundesliga club last season, after enduring similar problems at Old Trafford.
Barcelona also have a long-standing interest in Rashford, dating back seven years, but difficulty to register Dani Olmo due to La Liga’s financial controls, any agreement is impossible in January.
There is some hope that may change over the summer, and these considerations also explain why any move in January will almost certainly be a loan rather than something permanent.
