Louisville announces themed games for 2023-24 men’s basketball season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — With the University of Louisville men’s basketball season approaching, themed games have been set for each of the Cardinals’ home games at the KFC Yum! Center.

The special events begin with the season opener on Nov. 6, when UofL will honor the life of legendary head coach Denny Crum, who died in May.

Other promotions are also planned to celebrate faculty and staff, students, season ticket members, cancer survivors, mental health awareness, Black History Month and more. other impactful groups and initiatives. There are also several opportunities to help those in need, especially as the holiday season approaches.

The list below identifies each game with the specific theme.

Monday, November 6 against UMBC
Opening at home
Tribute to Denny Crum

Join us in honoring and celebrating the life of legendary coach Denny Crum.

Appreciation of teachers and staff

Discounted tickets and recognition will be available for UofL faculty and staff. Click on HERE for more information.

Friday, November 10 vs. Chattanooga
Ville’ns recognition evening

The game will feature student-only giveaways and promotions in honor of the Cards’ official student section, The Ville’ns.

Wednesday, November 15 against Coppin State
Mental health awareness evening

We recognize the importance of mental health in everyone’s life and celebrate the Cards All In student-athlete mental health organization.

Sunday, November 26 vs. New Mexico State
Autumn Festival Celebration

It’s pumpkin spice season as we offer fall-themed concessions and in-game activities to celebrate the changing of the seasons.

Annual coat drive for the community

UofL will partner with KFC Yum! Winter clothing collection and donation center for local community members in need.

Wednesday November 29 against Bellarmine
Return game

Louisville returns to its roots, with a retro vibe throughout – vintage music, videos, games and more.

Wednesday, December 13 vs. Arkansas State
Barbenheimer doubleheader

The global phenomenon comes to KFC Yum! Center as we host a doubleheader with women’s basketball. Both games will be themed after the iconic film “Barbenheimer,” with fun games and activities.

Sunday, December 17 against Pepperdine
Holidays with cards

Celebrate the holidays with themed promotions, take photos in the lobby with Santa Louie, and wear your favorite Christmas sweater!

Annual toy drive

Participate in the 13th annual Cardinal Forever Kyle Kuric Toy Drive, with new toys collected going to local children in need.

Thursday, December 21 against Kentucky
Red Out vs. Kentucky

Make sure to wear your red gear for a Red Out vs. Kentucky rivalry.

Saturday January 6 against Pitt
Kroger Food Drive

A partnership between Louisville Basketball and Kroger to collect non-perishable food items to donate to local community members in need.

Saturday, January 13 vs. NC State
Salute to Service Military Appreciation

UofL will honor veterans and active-duty military personnel with ticket discounts and exclusive recognitions. We have partnered with Vet Tix to provide tickets to active military personnel and veterans. Click on HERE to access the tickets.

Tuesday January 23 against Duke
Annual teddy bear launch

This is the third annual halftime event in which fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears to throw on the field at halftime, with all items collected going to local children in need.

Saturday January 27 against Virginia
Coaches against cancer

The Cardinals will honor cancer survivors while raising awareness for the cause through Coaches vs. Cancer. The halftime show will include a survivors’ march honoring those who fight. Click on HERE participate.

Saturday, February 3 against Florida State
502 days

UofL will celebrate all things Louisville for the second annual 502 Days game.

Saturday, February 10 against Georgia Tech
Children’s Day

This will be the fifth annual event where Card Nation’s youngest members return to the gaming experience. Details and the ability to register to participate will follow.

Wednesday February 21 against Notre Dame
Celebrating Black History Month

UofL will honor local heroes and community members during Black History Month.

Saturday March 2 against Syracuse
Appreciation of members subscribed to the season

Be on the lookout for exclusive gifts and recognition as we thank our loyal subscriber members.

Tuesday, March 5 vs. Virginia Tech
Coaching for Literacy

We celebrate the #Fight4Literacy initiative and the NCAA Readers Become Leaders programs, raising awareness of literacy programs in our region.

Saturday March 9 against Boston College
Senior Day / Wear Red for Seniors

Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite UofL red gear as we celebrate the senior class.
