Richard Hughes is set to make a move for an exciting midfielder.
Liverpool’s midfield rebuild in 2023 injected the team with much-needed energy and technical quality at the time.
But three years later, it is clear that change is needed again.

Wataru Endo, 33, is not a long-term solution, not even as a backup solution. Meanwhile, Dominik Szoboszlai has been tasked with filling in at right-back at times, and when he plays there, Liverpool’s depth becomes much worse in midfield.
Situations related to form and contracts add even more uncertainty. Alexis Mac Allister has struggled with consistency recently, and without competition or proper rotation, dips in form become more difficult to manage. At the same time, Curtis Jones faces an uncertain future with his contract expiring in 2027, which could force him to leave as soon as this summer.
If Liverpool are to succeed again, adding at least one high-quality midfielder is a necessity this summer.
According to Caught offsideThe Reds are among a group of Premier League clubs monitoring Khephren Thuram as they look to strengthen their options. kh

The Juventus midfielder, who has become a strong presence in Serie A, has attracted interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.
But it is Liverpool, who seem most fond of his services. They wanted to sign him in the summer of 2023 and are ready to move on.
Liverpool are believed to be “exploring” a package in the region of €45 million plus add-ons to open negotiations, although Juventus could demand a higher fee given Thuram’s contract runs until 2029 and the Italian side value him at around €65 million and €75 million.
Thuram is an incredible midfielder and it’s great to see Liverpool finally looking to agree a move for him.

His game gradually matured in Turin, where he became a key pillar for Juventus.
Comfortable winning the ball, pushing forward with purpose and linking play between the lines, he offers qualities that would certainly strengthen Liverpool’s engine room which is lacking in all of these departments.
While Juventus insist the 24-year-old remains central to their long-term plans, the realities of modern football mean Thuram would absolutely consider a move to Anfield if the opportunity presents itself.
Even based on his current form, the France international still has a much better chance of playing in the Champions League at Anfield than in Turin.

For many reasons, this decision makes perfect sense. Richard Hughes has close connections in Italian football, so if anyone can make it happen, it’s him. Perhaps Liverpool could even involve Federico Chiesa in the deal to make it happen.
One thing is for sure based on this report, the Reds are definitely ready to make a deal.
