The new captains of MLB The Show 23 were released on Friday. Fans can now discover the new legends who will lead the themed teams in the baseball simulation game.
Here we take a look at the different themed squads and captains of each team that were released in MLB The Show 23:
- High Endurance Bullpen Captain – Rollie Fingers
- Captain of the Venezuelan team – Salvador Perez
- Captain of the 1970s and 80s – Johnny Bench
- Captain of the 50 circuits – Sammy Sosa
- Captain of the Short Kings – Joe Morgan
- Captain of the Tall Kings – Randy Johnson
- Arm Precision Captain – Mookie Betts
- Sustainability Captain – Cal Ripken

Of the eight new captains introduced in MLB The Show 23, only Salvador Perez and Mookie Betts are active players in the MLB.
Rollie Fingers won three World Series titles with the Oakland Athletics during his time in the league. The pitcher also played for the San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers before retiring in 1985.
Johnny Bench played his entire MLB career with the Cincinnati Reds from 1967 to 1983. The catcher won two World Series titles with the team.
Sammy Sosa played 19 seasons in MLB, primarily with the Chicago Cubs. He also spent time with the Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles.
Joe Morgan played 22 seasons in the MLB and won two World Series titles with the Cincinnati Reds. He also played for the Houston Colt .45s/Astros, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies and Oakland Athletics. Sadly, Morgan passed away on October 11, 2020.
Randy Johnson played 22 seasons in the MLB for six teams, including the Montreal Express, Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees. He won the World Series with the Diamondbacks in 2001.
Cal Ripken played 21 seasons in MLB with the Baltimore Orioles. He won the World Series with the team in 1983.
