El Segundo, California (AP) – The great basketball Lebron James has become the first professional male athlete to have his resemblance represented in a Ken doll.

Mattel Inc. unveiled the LeBron Ken doll on Wednesday to launch the “Kenbassador” series of the toy manufacturer. Last year, nine Barbies female athletes, including the tennis star coming Williams, were introduced.

“As a young child, I was lucky to have models that have not only inspired me but who also showed me what is possible thanks to hard work and dedication,” said James. “Now, as an adult, I understand how vital it is for young people to have positive personalities to admire. This is why the partnership with Barbie to publish the LeBron James Kenbassadors doll is such an honor. It is an opportunity to recognize the powerful impact of the models that inspire confidence, to inspire dreams and to show children that they can also reach greatness.”

The LeBron doll has sunglasses, headphones and a jacket of blue and white letters dressed up with “LJ” on the left breast, its number 23 on the right round and the ohio and the crown patches on the other. His first name is at the back with “Just a Kid d’Akron” below. His t-shirt says “we are a family”, a nod to the LeBron James family foundation. His blue shoes, of course, are Nikes.

The doll costs $ 75 and will be sold on Monday.

In a video produced by James Associated Press by seeing the doll for the first time, the “king” expressed his approval, calling the “Dope” doll several times, another word for “cool”.

While looking at him, he put a “I promised” bracelet on the wrist of the doll and adjusted the strap of his banana bag.

“Okay, now we are ready,” said James. “I mean, he might need to make a little lifting. The legs look a little skinny. Little little man. Nah, it’s dope. “

Mattel’s main vice-president, Krista Berger, noted that Ken is the best friend and longtime supporter from Barbie.

“We are delighted to bring the fans a new presentation of Ken which celebrates LeBron as a model, his status as an icon, his lasting impact on culture and dedication to give a positive example to the next generation to reach their unlimited potential,” said Berger.
